Android: Splash logo vs. boot animation

Android-based smart phones often have two logos:

• Splash logo (splash screen) that shows up when switching it on. It is often only visible for a second
• Boot animation that is shown when the system is booting. It is often an animation.

The splash logo is often stored in a separate partition on the device
