emacs: flymake error margin/gutter in Debian 13

Debian 13 brought emacs 30.1, and when using flymake-mode I get an extra 2 characters left margin that is used for errors. It's disturbing.

Disabling

  • M-x set-variable
  • flymake-margin-indicator-position
  • nil
